Greatness through Service
It is said that virtue is its own reward. Indeed, whoever attains to excellence in service to his/her fellows in any sphere of life becomes respected. "…He that is greatest among you shall be your servant." – Matt 23:11. Those words of Jesus Christ neatly express the timeless truth that it is ennobling to work for the happiness of others. The great thing is that such goodness obligates the Universal Life to compensate you, since it is seen as having been rendered unto the Lord. "Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?...And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." - Matt 25:37 -40. Building up "Karmic credit" in this way is one of the secrets of attracting so-called good fortune. It makes sense, too - because the deeds you do must return to you. Serving selflessly should be seen as storing your personal power credit with Providence. Serving to deserve When serving your fellow humans becomes your habit, you may begin to notice that suffering and lack are getting more and more reduced in your life experience. This is according to natural law, not by chance! Through serving one becomes deserving of certain privileges. Note, however, that the highest assistance that one can render is to evolve the spiritual nature of our fellow humans - for example, through our words and actions awakening in others the emotions of hope and gratitude for life and a determination to make the best of it... In this regard it is worthwhile to strive to make of yourself a perfect picture of some inspiring ideal like health or harmony (rather than disease and despair). This would be assisting your fellow humans at a high spiritual level to awaken to the higher possibilities of life. As Wallace D. Wattles said, "You can render to God and humanity no greater service than to make the most of yourself"
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 5:16
